Tour de Tucson 2011

This was my first all bike event. Some friends and I decided to do this race for our first one since it was close. At first we thought about doing a shorter distance. There were a couple available. 85 was the initial thought...we had met for lunch to talk about it. When I got home I sent my friend an message saying I really wanted to do the 111 miles since she and I had already done 85 and it was like 6 weeks away from the race. She was totally up for it. There were 5 of us, 3 did the 111 and 2 did the 85.
We had matching jerseys and we looked pretty pro! Because it was our first year and our first race we had to start near the back of the enormous group of cyclists. As a result I guess we were quite a bit faster than we thought we would be because the whole time we were passing people. It was totally good for our egos! BUT because we were faster than all those other people we couldn't draft off anyone very long...so I think we ended up riding a lot harder than we had to. Actual ride time without the stops was 6 hours and 30 minutes...add in the stops...which were ridiculously LONG sometimes we were at 8 hours and 5 min. We learned a lot and now we are looking for our next race!!!

Sporting our ragnar tattoos...so glad they washed right off!

Running my final 6.1 mile run. Beautiful right by the wedge. I haven't been there in years. I had forgotten how cool it is all around there...kinda like a trip down memory lane.

Dad and me at the exchange 20 in the middle of the night.

Mom trying to keep warm at exchange 20. What a great volunteer!!!

It's not his hair that is shining!!! ADOT comes through again!

Our beautiful band van. Thank you Josh for letting us use it. At first I was not sure about only having 1 long seat in the back but then HURRAY it was a beautiful thing to lay down and stretch out in there and great for sleeping!!!!

At one of our main exchanges so the other half of our team was there. We have me, Lisa, Sandra, Rena, Tara, Patty and Candice. We only have 2 from the other van in this picture though.

Another craft

One of my best friends growing up was Heidi. Her whole family is so darn crafty it make's you want to puke .... turn anything cute!!! Well, of course I follow her stinkin' cute blog. This was one that I had really been wanting to do since I have nothing whatsoever to decorate for Valentines Day. I used only what I had on hand so of course I tweaked what she used to fit what I had but I think it turned out darn cute!!! I added one more pink flower after I took these pictures...it just seemed to need it! No sooner had I hung it on my door than 2 of my neighbors came over and want me to help them make one on Thursday...they think I'm crafty isn't that hilarious!!!! Thanks Heidi for another great idea!!!! You should be used it it I have been copying you since we were kids!

Valentines Day craft!

Totally gerogous on one side!!!!
Not so pretty on one side and some crayons didn't melt all the way ...

3 year old loves them!!!!

After they cool, pop them out of tins.

I have been wanting to try this for years but I was a little nervous.... plus I wanted a cute shape. I got brave today..plus I wanted to try to make these so Quincie could give them as Valentines. I had these little metal tins...kinda like cupcake wrappers, so I thought I would try them. They worked!!!!! Peel crayons....harder and more time consuming than you think.... put them in cups. Turn oven onto 350 degrees then turn it off put tins on cookie sheet in oven then leave them until they look melted...some of ours could have stayed in a little longer...then put them in the freezer or fridge until cooled...easy as that !!!!

Christmas 2010

This Christmas was a little different. I had each kid buy a gift for each sibling. We usually have then draw out of a hat and just buy 1 gift. This year they have been able to look forward to Christmas so much more knowing that each kid was getting something from them. Macey made a bunch of gifts and Halston and Quincie helped me make gifts and Stetson and Jake spent almost all of their money on gifts for the family. We had a super great day!!!

Stetson up in a tree with the help of his handy dandy ladder!

Stetson and I putting the ladder together.

Sniper on the lawn. I repeat sniper on the lawn!

Halston was so upset when he first got this transformer. Its a lever 4 out of 5 difficult. Then he was shown how to do it and he can do it now!

What to say......

He looks a bit like a mad scientist...

Macey and I can officially wear the same shoe sizes. Jake and Stetson bought us boots to share!!!

They kinda look like twins!

New Jammie shorts.

Stetson and Quincie hugging. She really liked those Polly Pockets.

Watch out for that tongue!

Quincie and Halston helped me make a custom pillow case for each person in the family. With different characters.

Macey is just too funny!

Jake loved Maceys gift of different hot sauces.

Showing off the new hoodie he can wear to school.

Halston with his new transformer.

Giving Jake a hug for the great Nerf gun!
